LOCATION:
Gold’s Range, 802 Bowden Road, Chapel Hill, North Carolina
From the 54-bypass around Carrboro/Chapel Hill, get off at the Jones Ferry Road exit (on the west side of Carrboro) and go west past the Willow Creek Shopping Center, away from town. Go 2.6 miles from the bypass on Jones Ferry Rd. Turn Right onto Bowden Road. Go 0.8 mile, turn left into driveway. Go 0.1 mile past pond on your right, turn left and go 0.1 mile. Red Roof Inn, 5623 Chapel Hill Blvd, at I-40 exit 270. For reservations call 919-489-9421 and ask for the “Knife Throwers” group rate: $54.99+tax, double occupancy.

Practice/Warm-up:

10:00am—? Knife Throwing Event, all divisions begin

Hawk Throwing Event (begins when Knife is done)

approx. 4:30 pm Awards (when Hawk is done)
Group Dinner Saturday: at a restaurant and/or a trip to the NC State Fair (see below*).
The range will be open Friday afternoon until dark for fellowship and practice, and on Sunday until 3:00PM for IKTHOF Qualifying, practice, distance throws or other events and games! If anyone is interested inhosting a special event on Sunday, or for any questions, email Dr. Jay.
THE NC STATE FAIR: Note also to throwers and families: this is the opening weekend of the NORTH CAROLINA STATE FAIR in Raleigh, only a half-hour drive from Chapel Hill. This is a large and very well-attended fair, with full midway, rides, games, “Village of Yesteryear,” crafts, a garden show, lumberjack competition, livestock, lots of food booths: entertainment for all ages. It opens Friday October 13, so if you want to attend the evening before the throw, or if you want to send spouses with children off to have a greattime while you are throwing or afterward on Saturday evening or Sunday, the Fair might be just the thing!
HOST:
This tournament is hosted by the Carolina Bladeslingers, and will follow IKTHOFA (International Knife Throwers Hall of Fame Association) rules.

EVENTS & AWARDS:
There will be two main events: Knife Throwing and Hawk Throwing.

Awards and prizes will be given on Saturday after the Hawk Throwing Event. Awards in the Adult (men and women combined) Division will be for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in two events: Knife Throwing and Tomahawk Throwing; in each of three levels: Expert, Intermediate, and Novice. In addition, the top three women competitors and the top three youth competitors (under 16) will receive 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trophies in both Knife and Hawk Events. A single Grand Champion for overall Knife/Hawk proficiency will be recognized.

The IKTHOF will also be awarding the 2006 Golden Knife and Golden Tomahawk Awards to the competitor(s) who scored highest in these events at several IKTHOF sanctioned championships this year.

FEES & REGISTRATION:
$40.00 for one event or $60.00 for both. PLEASE REGISTER IN ADVANCE: after 10/07/06, the fees will be $50 for one or $70 for both.
